Original, signed Myanmar passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.

Passport-type photographs: 3

Proof of Status. Copy of Green Card or other proof of legal status in the US (such as copy of I-20, DS-2019, H1B approval notice, etc.) and original I-94 card.

Itinerary. Copy of round trip tickets or confirmed itinerary.

Bank statement. Copy of the applicant's most recent monthly bank statement showing proof of sufficient funds ($500 per person or $1000 per family). The statement must clearly show the applicant's name as the account holder, the balances of the accounts, and the date of the statement.

Employment Letter. Copy of a letter from your employer on business letterhead, with contact details, stating that a leave of absence has been granted, purpose and duration of the trip, and that you will be returning to your current job. If you are self-employed, include a copy of your business license and tax return. For students, please submit an official letter from your school indicating that you are in good standing and that you are registered for the upcoming semester. If you are retired please submit proof of your retirement fund.
Additional required documents for minors (under 18):

- Birth Certificate. A copy of the applicant's birth certificate.
- Parents' passport copies. A copy of the passport information pages of both parents.

Please note that all Thailand tourist visas are valid for 90 days from the date the visa is issued; however, the duration of stay in Thailand is limited to 60 days. Tourists wishing to stay for longer than 60 days will need to apply for an extension while in Thailand.

The letter should be printed on company letterhead stationery, addressed to "The Consulate of Thailand, Visa Section", and signed by a senior manager (an equivalent to Vice-President or above). The business letter must adhere to the following guidelines:
• Briefly introduce the applicant (please specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant).
• State the nature of the business to be conducted (ie. business meetings, contract negotiations, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Thailand.

Citizens of Myanmar do not require a visa to transit through Thai airports for up to 12 hours, provided that they do not leave the International Transit Area of the airport.

If you need to leave the International Transit Area of the airport or if your stay will exceeds 12 hours you will be required to obtain a Transit visa.

Thailand airport transit visa is not required
for citizens of Myanmar.

  • Check the current validity of your passport.

    All travelers will need a passport valid for at least 90 days following your departure date from Thailand. However, we strongly recommend traveling with 6 months validity on your passport at all times.   • Make sure your passport has blank Visa pages.

    Most destinations, including Thailand, require that you have adequate un-used pages in your passport, allowing for any necessary stamps upon arrival and departure. We recommend that you have at least two free pages in Visas section of your passport before any international travel. U.S. citizens can get extra passport pages added to their passports as fast as within 24 hours.

  • Confirm if transit visa is required for any connections.

    Check with your airline in case you have connecting flights overseas as part of your journey to Thailand. It may be the case that countries you pass through en route to your destination may require a separate transit visa. Please refer to visa requirements of the specific country.

    • Citizens of Myanmar do not require a visa to transit through Thai airports for up to 12 hours, provided that they do not leave the International Transit Area of the airport.

    If you need to leave the International Transit Area of the airport or if your stay will exceeds 12 hours you will be required to obtain a Transit visa.

    What is a visa?
    A visa is a document which allows someone to travel into a specific country and stay there for a set period of time.     What is the difference between visa validity and maximum stay?
    The validity of a given visa represents the dates that the visa is effective. For instance, if a visa for China is valid for 90 days, you must enter China before that period of 90 days expires. Maximum stay is the time allotted for stay in the country. Using China as an example, the default maximum stay is 30 days, which means you are only allowed to stay in China for 30 days, even if your visa validity is 90 days. Please note that different countries have different requirements and interpretations regarding visa validity and maximum stay.

    Does consular jurisdiction affect the processing of my visa?
    In most cases, visas can be processed in Washington DC, without regard to consular jurisdiction. However, there are several countries that require all visa applications to be submitted in the assigned consular jurisdiction. Consular jurisdiction is the geographic area for which a consulate has responsibility for issuing visas. When a consulate is jurisdictional, it can only process visas for those who reside in a state within their jurisdiction.
